Desoto Time Trial Series Location: Fort Desoto Park in Pinellas County, FL. Follow I-275 South to Pinellas Bayway> Fort Desoto Park> North Beach. Individual Race Classes: Men, Women, Merckx, Juniors, Handcycle, Fixed Gear. Juniors under 18 are required to have parent or guardian sign entry and release forms. Cash payout for individual races 1st thru 3rd – Overall Men, Women, Fixies, and Merckx. No riders under 10 years of age allowed. No recumbents per USA Cycling rules. Series categories: Men 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Merckx, Fixed, Junior, Handcycle, and Women 19-44, 45+. Five out of the eight races count toward the overall series points race. Four races needed to qualify. Medals and prizes for series winners 1st thru 3rd places in each group. Start: The event starts promptly at 6 pm for the March and September 20th race, and 6:30 pm for all remaining races. Cyclists start at 30 second intervals. Start times are posted online by 4:00 pm day of event. Start times are seeded based on previous times. Registration: Online at www.fortdesototimetrial.com, maximum 50 racers. Registration opens one week prior to each race. Entry of $15 ($5 Junior entry)can be paid on site, but NO on-site registration will be available. USA Cycling Annual License required, one day license available for $10. The Course: Fort Desoto is as flat as it gets. All cyclists do an out and back from the very end of the North beach to complete a distance of 15 Kilometers. Merckx Class definition: NO aero gear at all. That includes booties, aero helmets, deep rims (34mm bead to edge max), tt frames, tt bars, etc. - Skinsuits are OK. Violators will be relegated to respective age class.
